RUBY LENNOX - ALGORITHMIC OPEN DESIGN
PATTERN GENERATION
ALL 4 ALGORITHMS REQUIRE A BASE ‘PATTERN’ TO BE USED FOR THE INPUT. THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT PATTERN TYPES TO BE USED - A FRAME PATTERN FOR ALGORITHMS 1 AND 4 AND AN ABSTRACTION PATTERN FOR ALGORITHM 2
TO MAKE THE ABSTRACTION PATTERN, SIMPLIFY THE GARMENT INTO A GROUP OF RECTANGLES THAT REPRESENT THE MAIN SECTIONS OF THE GARMENT (E.G SLEEVE, BODICE, YOLK) THEN SIMPLIFY THESE RECTANGLES TO 1 LINE ALONG THE LONGEST SIDE
TO MAKE THE FRAME PATTERN, DRAW LINES BETWEEN ALL THE MAIN SHAPE AND DETAIL POINTS OF THE GARMENT THEN REMOVE, OR IGNORE IF UPCYCLING, ANY GARMENT DETAILS SUCH AS CUFFS AND COLLARS.FROM HERE SELECT A RANGE OF UNDER 15 SHAPES THAT FIT WITHIN A SELECTION OF THE LINES THAT MAKE UP THIS FRAMEWORK, THESE ARE THE BASE PATTERN PIECES
